About the AANEM

The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) is the premier association dedicated to ensuring quality, cost effective and ethical care for all patients and to advancing the science of neuromuscular and musculoskeletal medicine.  Its more than 5,000 physician members are joined by allied health professional and PhD Researchers  to improve the quality of medical care provided to patients with muscle and nerve disorders.

Toward this mission, the AANEM develops programs targeting:

Education to enhance members' knowledge and skills and to advance public understanding of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine.

Professional Standards to establish training and competency standards and credentialing for physicians and other healthcare professionals and to promote best care practice standards.

Advocacy, serving as a resource for governmental, professional and lay agencies, monitoring and advocating on issues that affect neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine, and ensuring quality care for patients.

Communication to keep members abreast of industry and association news.

Research in the area of electrodiagnostic medicine.
